Genetically modified organism in food chain

The deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) modification that achieved through the artificial methods termed as genetically modified organism (GMO). This could be anything like plants, animals, or micro-organism. The genetic engineering technology played a vital role in developing and producing a GMO to achieve the better results in the same type of species or some non-related species of organism. The GMOs majorly present in food chains from plants (source- WHO). These plants have been introduced to improve the yield through offering a genetic modification for resisting plant diseases and also to improve the herbicides tolerance. Further, the genetic modifications employed to increase the nutrient contents of the food. Further, as far as WHO guidelines are concerned, the GMOs should be accessed for the risk analysis before allowed in market. A recent read on the genetically modified organism in CSE study focused a way out to look towards the GMOs. The study reports presence of GMOs in the imported as well as few Indian products. As mentioned herein that GMOs were developed to increase the yield of plant. However, the GMOs should be accessed for their risks associated with their consumption. One of the case study which attracted researchers to think for GMOs was weight of infants. You may access the report of this study here – CSE report. This was only a case through which the issue is been focused. However, now it becomes our own duty also to adopt for sustainable sources of food. Market specifically focusing towards the sale of products but being consumer we should aware about, what we are dealing with and possible risk associated. #purenvision #WHO #CSE #down_to_earth #GMO
